Water Sustainability Endowment Fund Grant
As of May 2011, the Real Estate Foundation of BC is pleased to offer a new grant: the BC Water Sustainability Endowment Fund Grant.
Since proceeds from the inaugural 2010 Land Awards Gala launched the Real Estate Foundation's BC Water Sustainability Endowment Fund, this is the first year that income from the fund is available. In 2010, over $39,000 was raised. 2011 gala proceeds will further build the fund. We invite ongoing donations to this endowment as the fund will continue to support non-profit activities in water sustainability in the foreseeable future.
- In 2011, one grant of $3,000 will be available.
- The grant deadline is Monday, July 4, 2011. Applications are now closed.
- The grant will be awarded in September.
Funding focus
The Real Estate Foundation’s mission is to support sustainable real estate and land use practices for the benefit of British Columbians. Such practices must incorporate respect for natural water systems—and implement best practices to support optimal watershed functioning—in order to be truly sustainable.
Because of the Foundation’s “land use” mandate, the focus is on fresh water bodies and watercourses, and the foreshore: where land meets ocean. Projects focused solely on marine environments are not eligible for support.
In 2011 the single grant awarded will make a meaningful contribution to support a project or program which focuses on water sustainability from a watershed perspective. This includes public education and/or on-the-ground activities which promote:
- community-based watershed stewardship
- sustainable use of fresh water
All qualified donees are eligible to apply.
