Our grants support projects, initiatives and sustainable solutions that address current land use challenges and help communities to plan for the future.

Our Aim

Under the Real Estate Services Act, the Foundation receives interest earned on real estate deposits kept in pooled trust accounts. Our mandate empowers us to use that money to support real estate and land use related research, education and law/policy reform, as well as other initiatives intended for the public of professional good.

Our mission is to transform land use attitudes and practices through innovation, stewardship and learning. We fulfill that mission in two ways: by making grants, and by leading on initiatives that fill research gaps and bring leaders together.

Our grant program funds projects in all five of our interest areas. We accept grant applications three times each year. The General Grant stream (two intakes) is open to any non-profit working on projects related to land use in British Columbia. The Real Estate Industry Grant stream (one intake) is open only to non-profit organizations that are part of BC’s real estate sector.

Sustainable land use is land use that enables humans to thrive within nature's limits; it integrates social, environmental, economic and cultural objectives into policy and practice for the long-term well-being of communities and ecosystems.
